Parents, we know you’re busy. That’s why we’re here to help with convenient care and more solutions under one roof. In addition to a general dentist for kids and special needs (Dr. Lyly), we have a pediatric dentist and an endodontist onsite for a full suite of children’s services.
- What does a pediatric dentist do? A pediatric dentist is a general dentist with additional years of specialized education and training to care for children and special needs patients. Unlike a regular family dentist, a pediatric dentist works with kids all day and knows how to speak to them and ensure full comfort.
Additionally, dentists for kids are experts at recognizing early problems in developing smiles, so they intervene to prevent more costly and complicated treatments in the future. - What is an endodontist?
An endodontist is a specialist who diagnoses and treats dental problems inside the tooth, including relieving tooth pain and performing root canal therapy. A child may receive a referral to an endodontist for tooth decay or an injury to save the tooth and help repair the dental pulp and roots. The good news – we’ve got a specialist in-house!
Our New Haven endodontist for kids, Dr. Manuel Sato, earned his dental degree and completed a two-year endodontic postgraduate program at Cayetano Heredia Peruvian UniversityOpens the website in the new window. Pediatric Dentist
Most of all, Dr. Sara cherishes the relationships she forms with our pediatric patients while helping them feel safe and comfortable. A fun fact? Dr. Sara is listed as a top pediatric dentist for 2019 by Connecticut Magazine.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Dr. Sara also loves traveling, running half marathons, and discovering new places to eat.
Endodontist
Through his gentle approach, patients get through their required treatments without the stress or discomfort often incorrectly associated with root canal procedures. While Dr. Sato is an endodontist at New Haven Kids Dentistry, he’s also in high demand at multiple practices and sees patients on an emergency basis.
Some fun facts? Dr. Sato is listed as a top dentist for 2021 by Connecticut Magazine. He’s fluent in English and Spanish, with a basic knowledge of Japanese. Dr. Sato is married to Dr. Lyly Rodriguez, they have two boys, and he enjoys cooking and traveling in his free time.
